Admission Process
To take admission to Online Manipal University, the candidate must follow the following simple process:
- Fill out the Application Form: Fill in your basic, education & work experience-related details and pay the application fee to register.
- Fee Payment: In this next step, you must pay the admission fee for the first semester/year or full program to secure your spot for the chosen program at Manipal Online University
- Document Upload: After filling out the application form and fee payment, you must upload the supporting documents & submit your application. These documents might include ID proof, educational certificates and mark sheets, and work experiences, if any. Before submitting the application form, the candidate must verify their details.
- University Approval: After all this, await the notification from the university. The university’s officials will evaluate your documents to confirm your admission.
Eligibility Criteria
Educational qualification
Candidates must have completed 10+2+3-year bachelor’s degree in Computer Applications/Computer Science/Information Technology from a recognized university/institution, or an equivalent qualification as recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) or other competent bodies
Candidates who have completed 10+2+3-year bachelor’s degree from other streams like Science, Business Administration, Business Management, Arts & Humanities, Commerce, etc. are also eligible for MCA admission but they have to attend and complete a compulsory bridge course in fundamentals of computer and IT along with their Semester 1 courses. Additionally, candidates who have not studied mathematics during their 10 + 2/ bachelor’s degree programs must attend and complete a compulsory bridge course in mathematics along with other semester 1 courses.
Grades
Candidates must have a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in graduation (45% for reserved categories).
Examination Pattern
Continuous Assessment Test (CAT) and shall be followed by a Final Assessment Test (FAT). The examination evaluation pattern will be divided into two parts, i.e., Continuous Assessment Test (CAT) covering 30% weightage and Final Assessment Test (FAT) covering 70% weightage. The continuous assessment test includes the different quizzes, assignments, mid-term tests, and case studies that the students attempt. On the other hand, the final assessment test includes the computer-based proctored examination in an online mode or at an exam center.
All students who have registered for a particular course are eligible to write the CAT and FAT (Theory/Lab) of that course, provided he/she is not allowed from writing the exam due to one or more of the following reasons:
- Shortage of attendance/ participation
- Acts of indiscipline
The examination is secured with advanced proctoring technology and a webcam, which measures all the facial expressions and eye-rolls during the examination to maintain fairness and detect cheating. The candidate must adjust the webcam in front of their face so that it can properly read their facial expressions and detect any kind of suspicious movement.
