Taking this into consideration, this universities offers different types of scholarships and EMI options, so that individual can lower their financial burden and choose the most suitable program. Following is the list of scholarships, which is granted by this university:
Merit-Based Awards:
Undergraduate Programs:
A discount of 15% is available to students with 80% and above aggregate in class XII.
A discount of 10% is available to students with an aggregate in class XII of between 75%-80%.
Postgraduate Programs:
20% concession: this is for those students who scored over 75 % / CGPA 7.5 in their qualifying exam.
10% concession: students whose percentages are between 68-75 % /CGPA 6.5 - 7.5.
Concessions for Differently Able / Divyang Students:
40% Concession for Differently Abled Students with disability percentage between 40% – 75%.
50% Tuition Fee Scholarship for Differently Abled Students with disability percentage above 75%.
Special Scholarships for SAARC & International Students: For SAARC National students, 20% concession on course fee turned out to be more beneficial. From other foreign countries are to be given various scholarships depending on the level of merit.
Government Nominated Scholarships: Students from the Government of Sikkim and sponsored by them can avail of over 75% tuition fee scholarship awards as Committed Merit Scholarships. Sikkim residents who are not government-nominated can avail remission based scholarships to the tune of 40%.
Income-Based Scholarships: Also, scholarships and concession up to Rs.8 Lakhs are available for students from economically weaker sections of society subject to recommendations from the Institute’s scholarship committee regards the annual income of both parents being less than Rs. 8 lakh.
Lateral Entry Candidates: A fee waiver may also be available to candidates who qualify for lateral entry into the B.Tech programs with a diploma.
Documentation Requirements: For the effective management of these scholarships, students are expected to submit requisite documents ie. income certificates, marksheets, and disability proof where appropriate.
Fill Out the Application Form: The first step is to fill up the application form, under which the candidate needs to provide personal and academic details as well as professional history and submit the application fee to enroll in the course.
Fee Payment: The next step is to pay the application fee to take the next step in the application form. Ensure that you make a payment applicable for the semester or year one of the entire program.
Upload the documents: The next step is to provide all the required documents requested by the university. The candidate must support their application with relevant documents and, if needed, send additional information to complete your application. These documents include your educational certificates, working experience, marksheets, etc.
The program evaluation structure involves two essential parts: continuous assessment and end semester proctored examinations. Continuous assessment consists of assignments, quizzes, and project work during the semester that counts towards the overall grade. End semester proctored examinations are carried out at the end of every semester and have a weight in the final mark of the student. Such examinations vary in lengths with general duration of three hours, and have different instructional levels eg open book, closed books among others. Students will be informed regarding which specific format is to be used through the syllabus and course outlines.
Relative examination comprise written tests, practical ones (where applicable) and project delivery. In addition to this, overall class participation and attendance may also be considered for assessment. The grading system used prevails letter grading systems that are based on the results of continuous assessments and end of semester examinations such as A being excellent and F being a fail while any letter grade has subcategories with speed and grade points for them.
In the case of students who cannot come for a scheduled examination due to some genuine cause, then they will have options of appearing for re-examinations as per the university rules. Examination is conducted in centers which have been specially designated by the university, hence all students registered under distance education can be able to reach the examinations easily.
